I was approached to write the vision for a prospective brand concept in downtown Calgary. The creative mind behind this concept envisioned opening a members-only, prohibition-style, private whiskey lounge hidden in the downtown core. He called it Angel's Share.
When alcohol such as bourbon or whiskey is aged in porous oak barrels, a small percentage is lost to evaporation. Some say the harmony between whiskey and wood is so exquisite that the lost percentage evaporates into the heavens for the Angels to savour; they call this the Angel’s Share.
While we can’t give you what the angels have taken for themselves, we can acquaint you with the refined world of whisk(e)y.
Here, you will not find the common drinker, nor the average beverage, for this is no ordinary drinking establishment. Curated for those with an appreciation for the finer things in life, Angel’s Share Private Whisk(e)y Club is a distinguished gathering place for the socially-inclined and the fundamentally-curious.

Members can enjoy tailored, hand-crafted beverages in comfort and style while they mingle and entertain in a room embellished with rustic, bitter-stained wood, tufted leather sofas and luxurious wing-backed chairs. Unwind under intimate, ambient lighting and raise a glass to the angel’s themselves, ever enjoying their share from our custom-painted ceiling mural.
Behind where beverages are brewed and stories are told lies the entrance to our swanky abode.
Once the tallest building, built with bricks six stories tall, is where you’ll find our private parlour, originally constructed by Roper Hull.
